The company or brand website next to your store – rework, maintain or relaunch, from a single source together with store, integrations and software.

Company Website for E-Commerce Businesses

Anyone running a store usually has a second website: the corporate or brand site, the B2B site for dealers, the careers portal, the parent company's site. It often runs on a different system than the store, is maintained by a different agency – or by nobody anymore. I take over exactly these sites for e-commerce businesses: rework, ongoing maintenance or a complete relaunch.

The point is a single source: store, company website, integrations and custom software from one developer who knows all the parts – instead of five freelancers or agencies passing responsibility back and forth. Plain trade or club websites without an e-commerce context are deliberately not offered here.

Three paths, depending on where you start

Rework

The content is fine, but the site is slow, insecure or out of date? I check technology, load time, security, availability and SEO basics and fix what has an effect – without rebuilding everything.

Maintain

Updates, security patches, content changes, new pages, forms, monitoring. As ongoing support with a fixed monthly allotment, so the site does not lie idle for years again.

Relaunch

When the technical foundation no longer holds: a complete relaunch with a clean structure, fast delivery, correct redirects for all old URLs (so rankings are preserved) and a setup your team can maintain itself.

What I pay attention to

  • Speed: static delivery, lean assets, caching – measured, not guessed.
  • Security and privacy: current software, clean forms, completely without cookies and external tracking scripts if desired – like this site.
  • SEO foundation: clean URLs, metadata, structured data, sitemap, redirects on relaunch.
  • Maintainability: content in a format your team can change without a developer.
  • Multilingualism and accessibility when your company needs them.

Who it is for

Merchants, manufacturers and brands with their own store (usually Shopware) whose company, brand or B2B website should fit the store: same data, same product information, same contact channels, one contact for everything. You bring design and copy, or we bring them in specifically; I make sure the result is technically clean, fast and durable – and works together with the store.

Typical connections to the store: showing product data and prices from the store on the brand site, a dealer locator fed from the ERP, contact and quote forms that land in the same system as store inquiries, shared login for dealer portal and store.

Typical tasks

WordPress or Joomla site slow, hacked or outdated

I take over existing WordPress and Joomla installations (and other PHP CMS such as TYPO3 or Contao): clean-up after an attack, core and plugin updates, hardening, performance, tidying up grown plugin collections. If the CMS is oversized for your purpose, I say so – and show the leaner alternative.

CMS maintenance contract

Regular updates, security patches, backups, monitoring and a fixed monthly allotment for changes – for WordPress, Joomla and custom developments. So the site does not lie idle for years again.

Website without a cookie banner

No tracking script, no external fonts, no consent prompt – and still measurable, because conversions are recorded server-side. This site is the example.

Relaunch without losing rankings

Redirect concept for all old URLs, carry-over of metadata and structured data, crawl comparison before and after go-live, Search Console monitoring afterwards.

Accessibility

Technical accessibility review (contrast, keyboard operation, forms, structure) and fixing what stands in the way of legal requirements such as the German BFSG or the European Accessibility Act.

Multilingual website

Language versions with correct hreflang, clean URL structure and a translation workflow your team can run without a developer.

Forms without third-party services

Contact, inquiry and application forms with spam protection without captcha services, GDPR-compliant storage and routing to the right mailboxes.

Landing pages for Google Ads

Fast, focused pages for campaigns with server-side conversion tracking – exactly the setup I use to measure my own ads.

Migration and hosting

Move to a suitable host, HTTPS, e-mail deliverability (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), backups and monitoring – the unspectacular things that matter when it counts.

How I work

Three principles that apply in every project

1

Understand before building

First the short technical assessment: what is the actual problem, where is the lever, what makes economic sense? Then the implementation.

2

Build instead of forwarding

You talk to the developer who does the work – no handover chain, no black box, clear status updates and early warning about risks.

3

Hand over instead of holding on

Code in your repository, tests, documentation and a deployment process your team understands. No vendor lock-in – your system does not depend on me afterwards.

Background

Experience at a glance

Today
Senior freelancer in ongoing Shopware projects of several agencies and merchants – at home in foreign repos, processes and deadlines.
Since 2021
Self-employed as Stefan Pilz Ltd. – remote for merchants and agencies: Shopware 5 and 6, Symfony, migrations, maintenance.
2015 – 2020
E-commerce backends: inventory, PIM and Amazon/eBay integrations for around 3.5 million products, then the Drillisch mobile-carrier web stores.
Since 2012
Full-time web developer – first at an agency: websites and stores with Joomla, xt-Commerce and Shopware.
2002
Completed vocational training as a software developer (C/C++). First own PHP websites from 2004.

Good fit

Works well when...

  • you have a concrete business requirement that standard software does not cover cleanly.
  • you need an experienced PHP/Symfony developer who implements directly instead of forwarding tickets.
  • you run existing systems, stores or integrations that have to work together.

FAQ

Common questions before requesting

Which system do you use for websites?

That depends on content and team: from a lean, statically delivered PHP solution to a CMS when many editors maintain content regularly. I recommend what can be run safely with the least effort.

Will we lose our Google rankings with a relaunch?

Not if the relaunch is done properly: all old URLs are redirected to the matching new ones, metadata and structured data are carried over, and the new site is checked before go-live.

Can you take over just the maintenance?

Yes. Ongoing support is possible without a prior relaunch – after a short technical check so it is clear in which state the site is taken over.
