Shopware 6 Community Edition (CE) is the fully free, open-source version of the powerful Shopware ecommerce platform. It’s designed for small to mid-sized online stores, startups, and developers who want maximum flexibility without paying licensing fees. Based on the permissive MIT license, it gives users access to a modern tech stack, essential ecommerce features, and an active developer community.

As of March 2025, Shopware has introduced a Fair Usage Policy for CE users. Stores generating more than €1 million in annual Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) must upgrade to a paid plan (Rise, Evolve, or Beyond) to retain access to the Shopware Account and Store. This change ensures that growing businesses contribute to the platform’s sustainability, while keeping Shopware 6 CE fully open and free for smaller projects.
